Remington College

Remington College, with nineteen campuses across the United States, prides itself on the personalized attention and real world skills the faculty provides to its students. Small class sizes — averaging fewer than 25 — help students to gain hands-on understanding of their areas of study with close instruction and mentorship from the faculty. In addition to the traditional coursework, students acquire exposure to the real-world skills and applications necessary to prepare them for lifelong roles in the technology, business, criminal justice, and allied health professions. The experienced, professional instructors offer the students the personal attention and encouragement necessary to help them successfully accomplish their goals.

Goals
Changing demographics led faculty and administrators to reevaluate the online learning solution used on Remington’s campuses. They recognized the need for a solution that would enhance their traditional classroom courses with supplemental online tools, enabling students to perform testing online and increase communication across campus. Remington, a longtime user of a proprietary learning management system, sought better student services through an integrated online environment. They were in need of a flexible, full-service solution that would allow for integration with their CampusVue administrative software, enabling them to expand their online learning program and increase enrollments without encumbering staff with data entry into two different systems.

When Christos Mousouris, Director of Information Technology, learned that Campus Management sought early adopters for its beta CampusLearning solution, commercial support services for Moodle, he was eager to volunteer Remington for the program.

“If you’re using CampusVue, and an open-source learning system integrates and does what you need, it’s a no-brainer.” Remington began the beta program in early 2007 and was online with five courses by July. As Mousouris recalls, in reference to the configurable nature of their student system, “We flipped a few switches inside of CampusVue and we were up and running.”
