Campus Management Corp. agrees
to be acquired by Leeds Equity Partners, LLC
Campus Management Corp. (“Campus Management”) has established itself as a leader in administrative and academic systems for higher education. The Company offers a fully integrated administrative and academic platform that can improve efficiency and effectiveness for diverse postsecondary institutions.
In recent years, Campus Management has expanded its suite of solutions and gained recognition from analysts as a visionary, top-ranked provider to the postsecondary market. It is the dominant provider of student systems to for-profit career and online universities, and it serves growing numbers of private and public universities. Campus Management’s performance and market position have made the Company attractive to investors seeking opportunities in the postsecondary education market.
In mid-2007, founder and CEO David Meek felt satisfied that he had built an experienced senior management team and began a process to find a suitable match—one which would support and advance the Company’s vision and roadmap through additional investments, customer relationships and industry expertise. Leeds Equity Partners, LLC (“Leeds Equity”) emerged as an ideal partner for Campus Management.
Leeds Equity focuses investments on businesses in education- and knowledge-oriented markets. Leeds Equity’s investment in Campus Management will help accelerate the Company’s growth, expand its market leadership and products, and build upon its visionary One Campus Ecosystem solutions platform.
Who is Leeds Equity Partners, LLC?
Leeds Equity Partners, LLC is a private equity firm focused on investments in the knowledge industries, primarily education, training, and information and business services. Leeds Equity is currently investing its fourth private equity fund, Leeds Equity Partners IV, L.P., which is the largest fund focused exclusively on investing in companies within the knowledge industries, a $1.3 trillion domestic market. The Campus Management will be a portfolio company of this fourth fund following the closing of the transaction. The firm was founded in 1993 and is based in New York.
Leveraging investment expertise, industry-specific operational experience and an advisory board that includes the two most recent Secretaries of Education, the former Chancellor of the California State University school system, and other education and business leaders, Leeds Equity invests in companies with strong management teams that address high stakes challenges, with differentiated products and services that provide measurable outcomes. The firm’s investors include a broad range of leading institutions, including public and private pension plans, endowments, foundations, financial institutions, family offices and high net worth individuals.
David Meek, founder and CEO, is retiring after two decades with the Company; he will continue his long association in a consulting capacity. Following a transition period, Tim Loomer, former CEO of Scantron Corporation, will become Campus Management’s new CEO, to lead its existing senior management team. Other team members include:

Campus Management’s headquarters remain located at 777 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida, 33431. There are no changes to the regular conduct of business for employees, clients, partners, and suppliers.

Our mission is to speed and simplify how institutions, their faculty, learners, employers, and other constituents, engage, collaborate and excel. We help institutions and their partners afford a technically elegant solution that enriches student experiences, and heightens administrative performance and academic outcomes. We work to make it easier to gain insights into complex data pertaining to personal and institutional performance. We strive to create a sense of place and easy access to services across campuses—both real and virtual.
The Company will continue to operate in a centralized fashion with its corporate functions (development, support, G&A, marketing, etc.) managed out of the Boca Raton, Florida-based headquarters.
The Charlotte, North Carolina facility continues to host the Company’s fundraising, advancement, and alumni relations business, along with its hosting and managed services operations.
No changes are contemplated pertaining to the Company’s structure, employees or services. The Company will continue to operate with no material changes to its annual plan, resources or budget.
Campus Management and Leeds Equity share a vision for expanding the Company’s mission and services in its served markets. In previous years, Campus Management has acquired Donor2, a fundraising software company, and entered software licensing agreements to expand its solutions portfolio. It recently announced a special project with Microsoft Corporation to introduce CampusCRM, a new Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) application designed specifically for higher education. In the Fall of 2007, Campus Management launched CampusLearning, a commercial support service for Moodle’s open-source learning management system. Leeds Equity plans to actively support the senior management in pursuing additional strategic opportunities.

The parties co-signed a final agreement on January 10, 2008. The transaction will close in early February.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Investment bankers, Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc., provided services and representation to Campus Management, and Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP served as its legal counsel. Ares Capital has committed to provide debt financing for the transaction and Goodwin Procter LLP served as legal counsel to Leeds Equity.
